Why is The Hexagon Everywhere? All About This Seemingly Common Shape

I don’t think bees are actually making hexagons on purpose. It just works out that if you put seven circles side by side they form a hexagon with one circle in the middle surrounded by six circles. The size of the circle is related to the working distance between the bee’s legs and its mouth and they just work in a circular pattern making each cell and when the cells fit together they look like hexagons to us but I don’t think the bees are doing anything but forming circular cells.
