In accepting responsibility for one’s own happiness one need not forgo defending one’s dignity. Unfortunately those who are week in one aspect are generally weak in the other. I am inclined to agree with the notion, though, that the first step towards real change involves an inner revolution based on personal responsibility. Those who condemn such a notion as “blaming the victim” instead are actually condemning the victim to the bondage of their past when seizing the freedom of the moment based upon personal responsibility could set them free.
