Oh yeah, James Michael Greer and Dmitry Orlov! I used to read them for years until Dmitry moved back to Russia to be a climate denier and homophobe while James Michael Greer shut down his history blog to work on his own religion.

The US has good geography so it might get by better than others in spite of its crappy culture. Going forward though, one would hope that its lower classes put up with a lot less crap from the upper classes than they did in the past.

I recently read Disunited Nations: The Scramble for Power in an Ungoverned World by Peter Zeihan. It adds an interesting perspective to collapse. I highly recommend it. I normally can't stand audio-books but it lent itself well to the audio format. its chapters are well organized so if you fall asleep while listening to the audio format it's not too hard to pick up where your conscious mind left off.

I finally retired (and an so grateful I have that luxury) and am using my covid break to improve my Spanish and get in better physical shape. I am very much looking forward to moving to Pasto, Colombia with its year-long growing season and cool weather above the mosquito zone. As a special bonus I like the taste of large guinea pig so as long as the indigenous people take pity on me and my little pot of gold, this lost lardaceous leprechaun should not starve.
