The elephant in your room is the fact that in areas of the world with Muslim majorities practitioners of other religions can not freely profess their beliefs without risking their lives. This is a fundamentally dark blight upon the reputation of Islam which only actions, not words can overcome. It appears to me that for every open minded peace loving Muslim there are ten thousand closed minded Muslims willing to kill him and his non-Muslim friends in the name of religion.
As one who dislikes theism in general, I generally have no problem finding common ground with theists based upon a common humanity. When I have established such rapport, though, with Muslims they are quick to remind me that such discussions made public in their own countries would be dangerous.
When and how do you think this terrible stain on the reputation of Islam will be lifted?
